COMMON PRECAUTIONS—WHEREVER YOU ARE. The safety of our school community during the COVID-19 pandemic does not begin and end at the school doors. How and where we interact with people outside of school will also play a key role in determining how well we preserve our health in the coming months.
For this reason, we will strongly encourage mask wearing when in the school buildings, while also allowing periodic “mask breaks” and places where individual students can remove their masks temporarily if needed. As per Iowa state law, we cannot require students or school employees to wear masks.
TRAVEL OUTSIDE JEFFERSON COUNTY.
For the well-being of our entire school school community, we are encouraging everyone to stay within Jefferson County.
If our students, staff, or faculty* have a medical appointment or other compelling reason to travel, we ask that you* follow the same safety guidelines: wear a mask at all times, wash your hands regularly, and maintain social distance.
If you are exposed to anyone infected with the COVID-19 virus, you* will need to be quarantined for five days, be tested, and then return to the school when a negative result is received.
FOR THOSE WHO ARE VACCINATED:
OVERNIGHT TRAVEL FOR NON-VACCINATED STUDENTS/STAFF/FACULTY:
If students, staff, or faculty travel overnight, you* will need to quarantine for 5 days after your return to Fairfield, then get tested, and receive a negative result before entering the school or dormitory. Students will need to be online for instruction until cleared to return in person.
Documentation of COVID negative test results need to be sent to centraloffice@
NON-VACCINATED VISITORS TO YOUR HOME:
If visitors are traveling from out of town to stay in your home, these same policies will apply: You* will need to quarantine for five days from the visitor’s arrival, get tested, and receive a negative result before returning to school.
