After School Program (ASP) Information and Registration

The ASP at Maharishi School in Fairfield, Iowa, was created to meet the needs of working parents or other parents that are in need of extra after school programs for their children. This program is designed for children attending Kindergarten through 8th grade. The program is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment that meets the needs of our Elementary and Middle School students and families within a child-centered environment that is both relaxing and stimulating.

At our program we will encourage the children to balance their leisure time. This will be done by providing a structured environment, with plenty of opportunities for children to choose activities that will enhance their social, mental, physical and intellectual growth.

Structure of the After School Program

The ASP is offered only when the school is in session from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

If a scheduled school day has to be canceled, the ASP will also be canceled. 

Daily structured and unstructured activities include:

• Snack
• Mixed age grouping
• Homework supervision
• Crafts and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) activities
• Passive games
• Dance, yoga
• Movie-pizza-popcorn party
• Seasonal activities
• Outdoor activities
• Library

If there is interest in regular clubs, we will definitely accommodate that: e.g., sewing, garden-kitchen, music, dance, international language, or recycling clubs.

The After School Program contract and application form must be completed before starting the program.

Registration:

The ASP runs on a month to month commitment and parents will have the option of having their children go to the ASP for 2, 3, or 5 days/week. Fees are based on the full session (3:30-5:30), not for partial time/hours.

The cost per month is set for every month except for: 

1) the month of December, when only ½ month would be charged

2) the month of March where the monthly rate will be reduced due to the week off during Spring Break. 

All other months will be considered full months even though some months differ by 1-3 days.

2 days/week – $80

3 days/week-  $120

5 days/week – $200

In addition, parents will be able to choose which days of the week they want their children to attend the ASP. 

Once a choice has been made for that month, it cannot be changed until the next month as activity and staffing planning is done based on that information. NOTE: Charges are based on the month and number of days per week chosen, not by the number of times or hours your child has attended.

For late registrations, parents will be charged either the full month if more than half the month is still left or half the month if only half or less is left.

Parents will be billed through FACTS, just like they are for tuition. The monthly payment for ASP must be received before your child can participate in the program. 

Once you have registered for the ASP, it is assumed your child will continue on the same schedule for the remainder of the school year, unless you notify us a week before the start of the next month by email. 

Refunds will not be given in most situations once the program starts.
