Our School has been, and continues to be, an inspiration to the whole world. That is due, in large part, to the volunteering efforts of all our parents throughout our history helping to create some amazing programs for our students—everything from the final construction of Hopson Hall in 1989 to the creation of our Nature Explore Classroom and Seed-to-Plate demonstration kitchen in recent years. Our parents have contributed their energy, their passion, their expertise. We thank you for your constant care of our School.
Now, more than ever, we need to build on this 30-year tradition of parent service to sustain our School and grow it in the future with a new system renewing an honored tradition.
Q: What is the New System?
It will be known as our “Pledge of Service” program. With this new service system there is only one set of hours, just 10 per family per year. We are asking every family to give 10 hours of service this school year in areas of your interest and expertise.
Q: What will I do?
What you’re good at, what you enjoy. We want to match people and their passions with the progress needed at our School. We have so many areas that will benefit from your time, energy, and unique talents: IT, landscaping, mentoring, event organization, marketing, and so many more.
Q: What if our family doesn’t complete 10 hours this year?
We understand that sometimes unexpected situations occur. With this new service system there is only one set of hours, just the 10 per family per year. We expect everyone to contribute in this way to the progress of our School. If, for some reason, a family doesn’t fulfill their hours this year, they can be rolled over to the next year.
Q: Who tracks my hours?
Hours can be submitted to Celeste Siemsen, our Administrative Director. Please include what task was done and what member of our Faculty or Staff was supervising the task(s).
Thank you parents, for all that you’ve done for our School and for your support of this Pledge of Service. We value each one of you. We want and need each of you to perpetuate the spirit of volunteerism that built our school. Together, we’ll see that the future continues to sparkle for Maharishi School and our beautiful children.
