Iowa Private School Wins Grant for Rocketry Project

The Maharishi School Rocketry Team has earned a $1,500 grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation, which will go towards the design, construction, and rocket flight expenses for the team’s Team America Rocketry Challenge entry.  Maharishi School is offering both TARC Rocketry and NASA Student Launch Rocketry Teams through our project-based learning curriculum this year.

Last year the team placed fourth out of 829 entries, and are looking forward to competing again this season.

Rocketry team coach Rick Rudloff is grateful for the community support, explaining, “we are very excited to have a major company in the area sponsor our team’s TARC projects.”

In addition to the Alliant Energy Foundation grant, Rudloff applied for a $2,500 grant from the Gannett Publishing Corporation and is in the preliminary stages of a NASA Student Launch grant request with the OMRON Foundation for $3,400.

Congratulations to Rick Rudloff, Helam Holbert, and Daniel Zhu for their success in this grant process.  We’re excited to see what you design and build with the extra funds!

Iowa Private School Rocketry Team Invited to NASA Student Launch

Maharishi School Rocketry Team Coach Rick Rudloff has big news for the community; the rocketry team has been invited to NASA’s 2017-2018 Student Launch!

This acceptance means that the team is included in an elite set of 60 Middle School, High School, College, and University teams from across the United States.  The selected groups receive guidance from a NASA project management team throughout a rigorous seven-month process of development and documentation before the final launch in Huntsville, Alabama in April 2018.

Rudloff is ready for the challenge and enthuses, “now the real hard work begins. I am so excited for our team to have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!”
