Total Brain Development

We schedule a brain workout for you twice a day and you don’t have to lift a muscle.

“The brain is like a muscle. If you exercise a part of the brain, the neural connections associated with it will be strengthened. This is how we learn skills. The more we repeat a certain action, the more the neuron connections are strengthened and the easier the action becomes.”
– Joachim Claes,
The Field Paradigm

The human brain is malleable and will adapt and transform with each experience. If we give it the experience of the Transcendental Meditation® technique, we could see the brain changing from the very first sitting.

Normally, when you do a task, you use only a portion of your brain. If your brain were hooked to an EEG machine (to scan your brain waves), we would see that if you were playing the guitar the section of your brain that’s activated is very different than if you were cleaning your home, or learning to swim. But with the Transcendental Meditation® technique, we see that the entire brain gets activated. Instead of having many different, moving parts, isolated for different tasks, they start to work together. Unified, in one big brain party.

It’s like going from learning to swim to having an entire team of synchronized swimmers. Scratch that. It’s like having an entire Olympian team of synchronized swimmers as your neurons move gracefully to the same majestic tune.

When your eyes are open and you aren’t meditating, muscle memory kicks in and you tap into that same flow state and become more creative, more purposeful, and more of…..yourself. This is why so many creative thought leaders like David Lynch, Jim Carrey, Ray Dalio and others say TM is their secret to success.

The more you practice the Transcendental Meditation® technique, the stronger those connections become and the deeper those feel-good-and-good-for-you patterns get embedded. Brain connections get stronger with time. Having more coherence, more mental strength, more emotional balance becomes instinct.

Cognitive development doesn’t happen from rote memorization and data dumps of important facts, it happens from changing what the brain experiences on a daily basis. At Maharishi School, we are deeply invested in the growth of our students and want to teach them the lifelong skills that will not only prepare them for the future world but empower them to shine as they are.

👨‍🏫Mr. Aikar has been teaching technology 👨‍🏫Mr. Aikar has been teaching technology this year, using a curriculum that ranges from cyber security and authentic sources to designing games and building robots.
👨‍🏫He will continue to teach technology as a project to 7th and 8th graders next year–and he will actually be incorporating technology directly into the curriculum as he teaches Grade 6 science next year.
👨‍🏫We are really looking forwrad to seeing what Mr. Aikar brings to the Middle School in the Fall semester.

📝The pen pals from Fairfield Volunteer Program 📝The pen pals from Fairfield Volunteer Program came and visited the fourth graders that chose to have a pen pal.
📝The pen pals were given a tour of our school, with a short Q & A period afterwards.
"It was a very sweet meeting and a delightful time was had by all." - Fourth Grade Teacher Diane James.
⭐️"Ishita's narrow loss to the eventual 5th pl ⭐️"Ishita's narrow loss to the eventual 5th place finisher deepened her resolve to finish the season with her best tennis. She won 6-1, 64 in the 7th place match, becoming the first Pioneer girl to win a medal at state since 2011."
⭐️"We're all proud of Ishita's growth this year, and we're delighted she capped off her season with a victory in her final match of the season."
She joins Lily Fenton (2021) as a Pioneer girls' state qualifier
⭐️Kerry- Before this year has only ever played badmitton, she has made a rapid adjustment and already has an impressive serve.
⭐️Helena- She has played some tennis in Ukraine but never on hard asphalt, so she had to learn how to adjust her swing and adapt to American courts which she did very well.
⭐️Mariia- She was a gymnast before she starting to play tennis this year, and because of this was able to bring a lot of energy into her games. She was able to improve very quickly.
⭐️Jolie- She improved a lot and was able to play varsity matches when other more senior players were absent. She also led her teammates in a yoga session to cool down at the end of every match which was lovely.
⭐️Sonya- She learned a lot about being on a team and had her expectations expanded with what it means to joining a competitive group. Her matched tipped the scale for us in the Sweet 16 tournament.
⭐️Bella- She is an excellent athlete and has decided to play college tennis after she graduates this year. She has great resolve to win and improve her game at every opportunity.
⭐️Daira- Her serve has become one of the best on the team. She wanted to get a faster serve so she worked hard in our practices as well as on her own time.
⭐️Sara- She's good at operating under pressure and is excellent in dealing with challenges, functionally speaking Sara would be nominated as team captain for this year.
⭐️Poojita- She is both physically and mentally strong, she never quits and is very receptive to coaching when something she's trying out isn't working for her.
⭐️Congratulations to all of the players on the Pioneer Girls Tennis Team!!
Our Rocketry Team, led by coach Rick Rudloff, comp Our Rocketry Team, led by coach Rick Rudloff, competed at The American Rocketry Challenge (TARC) Nationals at The Plains, Virginia. They were the only team from Iowa that qualified, from over 800 entries nationwide.
One hundred teams launched Saturday morning, and the top 42 scores launched again in the afternoon. Our team finished 17th in the nation, which enables them to participate in the NASA Student Launch program.
The TARC rockets have a target altitude of around 850 feet. The NASA Student Launch rockets are about 6 feet tall and fly one mile high! To compete our students will work directly with NASA engineers on their rocket design.
We congratulate the team and thank everyone in the community who supported them with the purchase of those delicious biscottis that coach Rudloff also bakes!

Maharishi School Seniors Present Their Capstone Pr Maharishi School Seniors Present Their Capstone Project:
The Capstone presentations will run roughly half an hour to 40 minutes each (including questions) and are the culmination of the work these students did for their Global Solutions class. In some cases, the students have been interested in their projects for several years and have brought together community service and even science fair projects to design solutions that address a critical issue facing our world and our local community.
Join us Friday, May 26th at 7:00 pm in the Maharishi School Auditorium as each team will be judged by a panel of 3 - 5 members. Passing the capstone project and presentation is a graduation requirement, so this is high-stakes.
