Students working on a hands-on project

Project-Based Learning

An hour, three days a week, to build something real

High School students get an hour, three days a week, to work on a passion project of their own choosing — Project Period, Maharishi School's version of after-school clubs, where teams in robotics, rocketry, Destination Imagination, and drama compete at the highest levels alongside individual pursuits in studio art, pottery, and music.

Recent project themes have ranged from advanced rocketry and NASA TechRise to novel writing, aquaponics, Japanese woodworking apprenticeships, film production, and Future Business Leaders of America — over fifty distinct offerings most years. Each quarter closes with a Showcase featuring everything from pottery firings to rocket launches.

Every project is built around the same core goals: creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, a growth mindset, and societal impact — developed into a portfolio students can document and share.
