Children’s House

Preschool & Kindergarten

Children arrive in the morning eager and excited to see friends and begin their school day. In the classroom, students choose activities from prepared Montessori subject areas, such as Practical Life, Math, Language, and Science.  They work individually and in groups throughout the morning and develop their social, and gross motor skills through interaction and play in our Nature Explore Classroom.

The Maharishi School Children’s House creates a safe and rich learning environment for our youngest students. The curriculum incorporates the Montessori method, our Nature Explore Classroom, as well as the Consciousness, Connections and Life Skills program and Positive Discipline.

We offer multi-age classrooms consistent with the Montessori pedagogy. The Toddler class is comprised of two to three year olds, and the Primary class (3-6), includes Pre-K and Kindergarten students.

AGE GUIDELINES FOR 2021-2022

2 and 3  year olds (by September 15, 2021) have the option to attend mornings only or a full day, Monday through Friday.

4, 5, and 6 year olds (by September 15, 2021) attend Monday through Friday, for a full day.

At Maharishi School Children’s House, high standards are maintained for each child’s comfort, ability to cooperate with others, academic achievement, and overall well-being. The Children’s House experience should be easeful and nourishing for each child in our program. Our school reserves the right to determine if a child is not ready for our program. Decisions are made on a case to case basis.

Montessori

Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. Every material in a Montessori classroom supports an aspect of child development, creating a match between the child’s natural interests and the available activities. Children can learn through their own experience and at their own pace. They can respond at any moment to the natural curiosities that exist in all humans and build a solid foundation for life-long learning.

Nature Explore Classroom

The Nature Explore Classroom is a source of wonder and adventure. Each space has been designed to provide a unique outdoor learning experience. The children learn to collaborate through games, creative projects in nature and developing their physical skills and abilities.

CONSCIOUSNESS, CONNECTIONS AND LIFE SKILLS (CCLS)

SCI encourages your child to see connections between him/herself and the Natural Law displayed in the world. Your child’s appreciation of the wonder of life will be enlivened through simple principles such as “The nature of life is to grow.” Through the use of concrete activities, such as  songs, stories, nature study, cooking, art, and sport – these SCI principles are enlivened and understood.

The Positive Discipline system of classroom management allows children to cultivate self-regulation, respect for themselves and others, as well as a sense of belonging and autonomy in their daily lives.
