Our Community

Fairfield blends classic Midwestern charm with a progressive, globally minded spirit, from a thriving startup scene to year-round farm-to-table food and a downtown arts calendar most towns twice its size can't match.

Economy

A vibrant startup community of roughly 400 small businesses employs about 3,000 people locally, many led by Maharishi School alumni who have collectively raised over $200 million in venture capital. Jefferson County ranks fifth among all U.S. counties in per-capita charitable giving.

Culture

Fairfield is Iowa's foremost arts center, with more than 10 galleries and venues — anchored by the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center's 500-seat theater, and a monthly Art Walk that draws visitors from across the state.

Parks & Recreation

The 33-mile Fairfield Loop Trail connects lakes, prairies, woodlands, wetlands, and a state preserve, alongside ten parks with a freshwater swimming lake, playgrounds, and picnic areas.
