A school is only as good as the people running it. Ours is led by educators who chose this work on purpose — drawn to a school that develops the whole student, not just the transcript. Small as we are, the people below aren’t distant names; they’re the ones who will know your family.
We have the privilege of stewarding an unusual educational vision: one that honors the whole student. We believe the most powerful learning comes from a quiet mind, a curious intellect, and a caring heart together — which is why we’ve built the school around Consciousness-Based Education, and why we pair it with a nationally recognized STEM program. Above all, we’re committed to knowing and caring for every student by name.
Head of School
Brett Potash brings more than twenty-five years in education to Maharishi School. He holds a master’s in the History and Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s with honors in Psychology, Anthropology, and Religious Studies from Franklin & Marshall College. Over a career on three continents, he has held teaching and leadership roles — dean, director of dormitories, classroom teacher of humanities and psychology — at schools including Mercersburg Academy, The Webb Schools, and LEAF Academy in Bratislava. He is a certified Mindfulness in Schools teacher, has published in Independent School magazine and the International Schools Journal, and speaks widely on student well-being and ethical leadership. Outside of school, he’s an outdoorsman who has trekked the Himalayas, Patagonia, and Kilimanjaro, and hiked the full 2,000 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
The Leadership Team
Each division has its own director, so the person making decisions about your child’s day-to-day is never more than one conversation away. Meet the rest of the team below — and see the people who run admissions, residential life, and the office day to day on our Faculty & Staff page.
