Dr. Sarah C. Vigmostad is an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa. She earned her Ph.D. (2007), M.S. (2003) and Bachelor of Science degree (2001) in Biomedical Engineering there. Her research in computational biomechanics focuses on disease formation and progression, better treatment options and prosthetic device designs, and biomechanics-related risk factors.
She has given invited lectures at Penn State University, the University of Pittsburgh and NASA. Her awards include the James L. Murray Award (2014) and the University of Iowa College of Engineering Outstanding Teacher Award (2013). In 2007, she won first place in the Biotechnology Division of the US National Congress on Computational Mechanics Ph.D. Student Competition.
