Mission & Values

What we believe, and why it guides everything

To create an innovative Consciousness-Based educational environment where students think deeply and become creative, compassionate, contributing citizens of the world.

What We Mean By It

Every student is known. We’re small on purpose. Teachers know every student; students know each other; and with classes averaging about ten, every voice is expected, not just allowed. With students from more than 30 countries, that small room holds a wide world.

We teach students to think, not just to memorize. Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses prepare students for college-level work, and our interdisciplinary Consciousness, Connections, and Life Skills (CCLS) course helps them see the common principles that run through their subjects, the natural world, and themselves.

We make room for real creativity. Three times a week, students spend a dedicated Project Period pursuing passions — teacher-led or self-designed — where they experiment, fail, revise, and build real skills alongside community mentors.

We develop the inner life, too. Through a daily practice of Transcendental Meditation and yoga, students learn to work from a place of calm and focus. Knowing who they are, they can more fully be themselves — and that steadiness is the foundation the academics rest on.

Our Core Values

  • Respect — we treat others with the respect we expect for ourselves.
  • Responsibility — we own our thoughts, words, and actions.
  • Service — we look for ways to serve others and steward our environment.
  • Solutions — faced with a problem, we look for a creative way through. “Don’t agonize, organize.”
  • Transcendence — our daily practice builds depth of mind and supports our goals and values.
