Many of you know that I’ve been away since March 5 on a trip to Asia, visiting some parents of current students, and talking to new families and students about joining our amazing school. I LOVE talking about how different we are. We are a school where students achieve at a high level, and at the same time feel balance in their lives. How students feel comfortable in themselves — not all of them and not all the time, but more so than in any other school I’ve worked. How can our students carve out a space away from the pressures of being a kid, find some silence in a world of noise, and then use that space as fuel to be their best?
I thought I might not have much to write about in this Newsletter since I’ve been away. But people just keep sending me pictures of the process I just described — our students being awesome. There’s no escaping it.
Science Fair
Let it begin! The very first Science Fair competition happened on March 5, and our students represented the school brilliantly. There were two categories being judged: Physical Science and Biological Science. While hundreds of students were in attendance, our students earned several Top 10 awards:
Physical Sciences:
- 4th Place (tie) — Swavam
- 4th Place (tie) — Adham and Pranit
- 1st Place — Ken
- Biological Sciences:
- 10th Place — Clary and Camille
- 8th Place — Kyran
- 5th Place — Ben
- 4th Place — Sohni and Sohani
- 2nd Place — Kostia
- 1st Place — Antariksha
Congratulations to all of our students for working so hard on their Science Fair projects for the last few months. Whether they’re developing new ways to test soil density from remote satellite technology (Ken), or developing early indicator tests for Alzheimer’s using tear drops, these projects promise incredible developments in the future. And special thanks to Ms. Asha and Mr. Aikar for their guidance of our students on this journey.
Destination Imagination
Exactly two weeks ago, two Maharishi School teams competed in a regional Destination Imagination competition. Our Middle School team got 1st place, and our Lower School team got 4th place. (My daughter, who’s on the Lower School team, asked me not to share with you that there were four total teams in their competition.) :)
Congratulations to both teams for stretching out of their comfort zone and putting together some hilarious performances.
Future Business Leaders of America
The District Competition for our FBLA Club took place last week, and our growing group of students performed exceptionally well. Below are the categories and places of our future business leaders:

I haven’t yet been able to talk to the students about their projects, but am VERY curious to learn more about what they designed. Thanks to Mr. Ross for his mentorship of this group.
Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch
Our 2nd Graders have been busy writing (and illustrating!) their own nonfiction books. And our 10th graders have been testing their lung capacity by blowing through a tube to displace water in an upside-down gallon jug. And a group of intrepid Upper School students took a ski/snowboard trip last weekend. At the time, they thought it might be the last snow of the year. Stay safe this weekend!
